Parrots

Parrots are extremely rewarding pets but they are also very time consuming pets with many requirements and sensitivities. Avian medicine is difficult field of Veterinary medicine so many vets in practice do not feel confident in seeing birds. Catherine has spent years studying the intricacies of avian medicine and has a great deal of experience with these wonderful creatures. She has dealt with all kinds of parrots of varying sizes – from budgies and lovebirds through to cockatiels, African greys, amazon parrots, macaws, cockatoos and everything in-between. A major problem with parrots is that they hide the signs of illness extremely well. This is a natural behaviour born out of necessity. These birds are prey species and are very vulnerable to predation in the wild. This means that a bird who is sitting around looking ill will be easily picked out by predators. So if you notice your bird looking ill in any way do not hesitate to call us and arrange to see Catherine. There will always be someone to answer the phone in an emergency at any time of day or night and they will be able to contact Catherine if your bird needs urgent care.
